Colors

No info yet.

Colors do, kind of, have a sterotype as to what type of rider they prefer. No color dictates who can lead, however. (I've tried to keep these colors vauge for leadership skills.)

black & white - these two colors vary and do not have a set type
silver - organized, good with people, level headed, quite (female)
gold - organized, good with people, more tempermental, outspoken (female)
bronze - organized, good with people, quick to react, level headed (male)
red - organized, good with people, quick to react, hot(hard)-headed (male)
brown - calm, thoughtful, good listener, insightful (male)
cream - calm, thoughtful, good listener, insightful (female)
purple - emotional, passive, sentimental, thoughtful (female)
blue - emotional, passive, sentimental, intuitive (male)
green - stable, independent, reliable, intuitive (female)

Genetics

Color Basics
The dragons have a "two-part" coloration system which allows for certian colors being present only for certian genders - traditionally. What color the dragon is depends highly on the last chromosone in the gender allele - X or Y. In addition to this, their is a mutation for the "first" X chrmosone which is simply listed as X+, which means wild. If a male dragon is X+Y then it has a female's color, same if it's a female with X+X - it's a male's color.

The first set of color codes is CX because it's the females colors:
CX1gr - green
CX2pr - purple
CX3cr - cream
CX4gd - gold
CX5sr - silver

The second set of color codes is XY as they are for males:
CY1bu - blue
CY2bn - brown
CY3bz - bronze
CY4rd - red
CY5cp - copper (which is hardly ever found)

For the genders the X allele is responsiable for the change in colors between genders. The wild X+ is able to be carried rather then shown. Gender-switches happen 50% of the time if this gene is present. Males always carry this gene first and have a higher chance of switching to a female's color if they get it (75%). In females, if the gene dosn't "take", the X+ gene is written second, not first. This only affects the "first" X chromosone. If a female is born with X+X+, she is homozygous for this gender switch and switches herself. However, like all these cool, special things that can happen, their is a good chance she will not hatch (50%).

XX - female dragon; uses CX code-set
X+X - female dragon; uses CY code-set
X+X+ - female dragon; uses CY code-set (50% of not hatching)
XY - male dragon; uses CY code-set
X+Y - male dragon; uses CX code-set

Two-tones and Patterns
Because their are no dragons at TolEras that are or can produce two-tones or pattens (or their are too few of them), these codes are often ignored when writting out the definition (?) for the code. However, for record curiosity sake:

Two-tone wings are the result of T, for two tone. t is for a two-tone dragon, and uses the second color in their gender-set.

Patterns are defined with P. The following patterns available are listed below.
P - no pattern; does not allow other patterns, is dominate
Px - no pattern but allows patterns (is resessive to all others)
Pst - stripped
Pdp - dappled
Psp - speckled (of the other color in the code of their gender)
Psh - shimmer
Plt - light (fades to white tail)
Pnt - night (fades to black tail)
Prbw - rainbowed (like Lyraeth) - speckles the dragon in 3-4 rainbow based colors
Pshm - creates the shimmer effect

Speckles are always average in opacity and light in density - their is no seperate code for them. It's just the rule as all other options were "bred out"

Black and White Dragons
Black and white dragons are the only ones to come in both male and female. Their is a seperate code for black and/or white. Keep in mind that if you get a dragon with bb and ww, the egg is fatal.

B is for no black
b is for black (must have bb)

W is for no white
w is for white (must have ww)

The original color may be seen very faintly but it is so diluted that it is hard to tell. Most of the time no one can tell unless they were to do a genetic test on their dragon!

Shade Varations
Setian dragons come in three shades of a single color: pale, normal, and dark (just like the Falas code).

H is for no color change - dominate
h is either light or darker (pale or dark)

Size and TPower
Size is my typical code:

SS - large dragon
Ss - medium dragon
ss - small dragon

TPower follows my code as with the wolves but with Tp instead of At and with some tweaks for more varity/range.

Tp1 - 3 or 4
Tp2 - 5 to 7
Tp3 - 8 to 9
Tp4 - 10

The Weakness of the Old Blood Dragons
Setian dragons are, in fact, a fragile breed of dragons. Almost a half a decade after the humans settled Alskyr, a plauge swept over the island killing hundreds. Dragons were the first to die in this tragity, followed by humans as the illness mutated to include humans. This virus was simular to what had killed the wolves fourty years before. It was called the 'wolf fever' because it was a mutated form of that desease. It was also called the 'fire fever'.

The dragons' DNA is weak which allowed the disease to destroy them so easily. The wolves, if they hadn't left for the future some five-hundred years later, would have actually survived the epidemic though the cost would have been very great and many would have died. This is because the wolves' original DNA was form many gene pools. It is belived, yet not recorded, that the dragons of Lantir-setia were from a few handful of dragons that came to the island and isolated themselves from the rest of the world. They were severly inbred and there current DNA showed it. It wasn't until Estel Kuren left this time that the cure was found. Vaccines became available and research on the DNA of the dragons showed there major flaw. No dragon was alive by that time and the Council banned reopening the Caer in fear that the epidemic was still dormant. They did not wish to believe the scientest findings.

Once in the present era, Estel Kuren made sure all the dragons he brought with him were vacinated. However a few still surcumoed to the illness and died. The first two clutches of the Caer proved that the species could be saved without bringing in new blood from outside Caers or islands. However, Estel knew that in order to strengthen the species, new blood was needed. He had hopes for a number of young people that had been searched to other Caers. To them, he implied his ideas and the thought of returning to Lantir-setia to rebuild the Caer - and the dragons that called her home. His main focus was on the two islands where the Setian dragons were most simular in the genetic DNA - Volucris island and Oros Mountain. It is believed that the first Setian dragons were originally from this stock. The Caer's geneticist, Keshambi

Estel and Uialmir died before Skiel Kisru and his group arrived at Caer Tol-eressea. However, there is sufficient bloodlines, perhaps, to save the Setian dragons and allow them to breed stronger along with the genetic alterations to the first two clutches hatched under Estel's leadership.
